Try it on the preview: open Find Your Seat and type Emma for a single match, or Walker for two. As a guest types, the widget narrows your list. One match shows their table and seat straight away, several show up to six names to pick from, and a name that is not on the list shows a message you write. Add a photo and it becomes the chart: the picture splits into one tile per guest, and the tile for the person who searched flips over and lights up while the rest dim.
Seating changes after it goes out, usually in the last week: a late RSVP, two relatives who cannot sit together, a plus-one who drops out. Upload the corrected file in Fugte and save, and within about a minute every page the widget is embedded on shows the new table, with no new embed code and no new PDF to send out. If you link a Google Sheet instead, you change the sheet and the widget reads it again on its own, which can take up to a day on the free plan and up to 15 minutes on Basic and Creator. A QR code already printed on the welcome sign keeps working through all of it, because it points at the widget's link rather than at a copy. The one thing that does not follow the edit is paper, so print the backup chart last.
"Seating chart" can mean two different things. The floor plan shows the venue and the caterer where each table stands, and it comes from a seating planner such as wedding.studio or SeatPlan.io, or from paper. The guest lookup tells one guest, usually on a phone at the door, where they are sitting. This widget is the lookup. It does not draw the room, seat people automatically, or keep two guests apart, so settle the seating first and give it the finished list. If you designed a printed chart in Canva, keep it for the entrance and put this widget's QR code on it.

What the Seating Chart widget can do.
Search as they type
Guests type any part of their name, in any capitalization. One match shows their seat straight away, several show up to six names to choose from, and no match shows a message you write, such as where to find a host.
Excel, CSV, or a Google Sheet
Upload a .xlsx, .ods, or .csv file, or paste the link to a Google Sheet shared with anyone who has the link. The widget reads a Name column, or First Name and Last Name, plus optional Table, Seat, and Notes columns. From a workbook with several sheets it takes the first one that has anything in it, and seat numbers a spreadsheet turned into 12.0 are cleaned up.
Your photo becomes the chart
Upload a photo and it splits into one tile per guest, each showing that guest's table or seat number, your choice. Add a second photo and column count for phones, used whenever the widget is under 600 pixels wide. Show the photo on the page or behind a button, and guests can hide the grid lines to see it whole.
Move a guest after you publish
Upload the corrected file and save, and every page the widget sits on shows the new table. A linked Google Sheet updates itself, but it can take up to a day on the free plan, so on free, upload a new file for a last-minute swap.
A QR code for the welcome sign
Every published widget has its own link, and Publish & share turns it into a QR code you can download as an SVG, which prints sharp at any size. Put it on the invitation, the welcome sign, or table cards, and guests can find their seat on their phone even if you have no wedding website. On Basic and Creator you can put your own logo in the middle of the code.
A passcode for the guest list
On Basic and Creator, set Who can view this widget to Passcode, or on Creator to an Email list. Visitors get a box asking for it instead of the widget, and the guest list is not sent until they enter it. Print the passcode on the invitation or the welcome sign.

How do guests find their table on a wedding website?
Put this widget on the page and each guest types their name into it. It shows their table and seat, and if you added a photo, lights up their tile on it. It embeds on Canva, Notion, Shopify, WordPress, and Webflow, and each has its own step-by-step guide on this page.
Can guests scan a QR code to find their seat?
Yes. Open Publish & share on the widget, choose QR code, and download it as an SVG for the welcome sign, table cards, or the invitation. It opens the widget on the guest's phone, so it works even without a wedding website, and a printed code still shows your latest seating after you move someone. If the widget has a passcode, print the passcode next to the code. Phone signal at some venues is weak, so ask guests to look up their table before they arrive and keep a printed chart as a backup.
Can I upload my seating chart from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Upload an Excel (.xlsx), OpenDocument (.ods), or CSV file, or paste a Google Sheet link. The first row names the columns: a Name column, or First Name and Last Name, plus Table, Seat, and Notes if you use them. Files up to about 3,000 rows work. From Numbers, export as Excel or CSV first. For a Google Sheet, open Share, set General access to Anyone with the link, and paste the sheet's address.
Does it make the floor plan or seat people automatically?
No. There is no room layout, no table shapes, no auto-seating, no rule for who sits apart, and no meal count for the caterer. Decide the seating in a planner or on paper, keep a spreadsheet with a table next to every name, and upload that. This widget is the part guests use to find their seat.
What happens when I change the seating after it is live?
Upload the corrected file and save. Every page the widget is embedded on shows the new seats, with no new embed code and nothing to resend. A linked Google Sheet updates without you opening Fugte, but not instantly: it can take up to a day on the free plan and up to 15 minutes on Basic and Creator.
Is my guest list private?
Not on the free plan, where every widget is public. Everything in the file goes into the published widget, including columns the widget never displays, so anyone who can see the page can read it. On Basic and Creator, set Who can view this widget to Passcode (Creator can also use an Email list), and the guest list is not sent until a guest enters it. A guest types the passcode once in their browser and stays unlocked for 30 days. Either way, keep the file to names, tables, and seats, and leave out meal choices, allergies, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Can I add a seating chart lookup to my Canva website?
Yes. Copy the Embed link from Publish & share and paste it into an Embed element in Canva. Canva does not support floating buttons or popups that sit over the page, but this widget's popup opens inside its own box, so it works as long as you drag the embed box large enough for the photo. If the box has to stay small, leave the photo out and the search box sits on the page by itself. Canva's own seating chart templates make the printed version, and the Canva guide on this page covers using the two together.
Does it show who else is at my table?
Not as a list. The result shows one guest's table and seat. With a photo, every tile carries a name and a table number, so guests can spot the other tiles for their table. Tiles follow the order of your file, so sort it by table if you want tablemates to sit together on the photo.
Will guests find their seat if they type a nickname or a partner's name?
Only if that name is in your file. The search looks for what a guest types anywhere inside a listed name, ignoring capitals, so "john" finds every Johnson. It does not know that Bill is William or that someone changed their name, so list the names guests will actually type.
Is the seating chart widget free?
Yes. The search, the photo chart, and the guest list all work on the free plan, where the widget is public and carries a small Fugte badge, which you can remove from one widget for $9.99 once. On Basic and Creator the badge is gone, the widget can sit behind a passcode, and a linked Google Sheet is read again every 15 minutes instead of once a day.
